TRC Call to Action 92(ii) - Impact on the Provincial Economy - July 2025

Expansion of Indigenous businesses could bring a total economic impact of nearly $26 billion in gross economic output.

  • Fulfilling TRC 92 (ii) could generate $26.7 billion in gross output and $14.5 billion in GDP.
  • Labour impacts include an additional 111,552 jobs.
  • Additional jobs supported by employment parity would generate $5.5 billion in labour income.

The latest addition to Praxis’s economic impact tool box is the First Nation EAM is based on Business Registry Data for any business located on First Nation. It demonstrates how any expansion of First Nation businesses positively impact the community it is located in and the province as a whole.  

Some provincial impacts include: 

  • Closing the education gap: $840.4M in gross economic output
  • Closing the employment gap: $8.04B in gross economic output
  • Entrepreneurial parity: $15.9B in gross economic output
  • Industrial multiplier parity: $1.8B in gross economic output
